Our leadership students have been busy! On November 8th, they facilitated games and projects during TK/Kindergarten recess. They played sharks and minnows, bean bag toss and helped with chalk art.

Please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk. You may park in the Capri parking lot—legal space permitting, along the street, or in the neighboring off-street parking where allowed. Please be thoughtful of our neighbors and do not double park, park on grass, or block driveways or mailboxes, be courteous to pedestrian and automobile traffic and please obey all speed limits. The speed limit on streets around the school is 25 MPH. Our children’s safety is our top priority and your help is much appreciated.
You may drop-off or pick-up your child using the “drop off/pick up” lane in the drive-thru at the front of the school. When using this lane, please make sure your child enters and exits to the right next to the curb, not into passing traffic. This will keep your child safe. If your child is not out front when you arrive for pick-up, please circle the parking lot/drive-thru/neighborhood until you see your child. Then you may enter the “loading” lane to pick them up at the curb. Please do NOT block the drop-off lane, park in red zones, or unauthorized areas, or leave your car unattended.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
We had a wonderful turnout for our second Books Inc. fundraiser! Families enjoyed snacks and drinks provided by our amazing PTA, as well as books read by our own Mrs. Wellendrof and Mrs. Eshoff. Our generous community also bought stacks of books to donate to our teacher's classrooms! Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a succes

Two 5th grade classes used four of our five Profile of a Graduate competencies in a Shark Tank type project. They worked in teams (collaborative) to brainstorm an idea (innovative, critical thinker) for a new product. Then they created the prototype (self-directed) and presented it to Ms. Desai, Ms. Brackett and Ms. Wellendorf. Some of their creative designs included a donut holder, a Pento Pad, a dishwasher that not only washes the dishes but also puts them away, and a comfort fabric cover for student chromebooks. Congratulations to all our budding entrepreneurs!

The Capri annual food drive is in full swing. Donate non-perishable food items to your child's classroom now through November 20th. Food will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
The Second Harvest Food Bank assists 1 in 10 people in the Silicon Valley.
Empathetic: I contribute by being kind and caring to others while considering multiple perspectives.
Capri Cougars show empathy by joining other students on the "Buddy Bench". Students who are looking for someone to play, talk or hang out with during recess can go to the Buddy Bench.

The Multi Purpose Room was rocking during this energetic assembly! There was dancing, singing and drumming. The teachers and Mrs. Wellendorf even took part by learning an African dance and performing it. Go to our Twitter account @capri_cougars to view the videos. Thank you to our PTA for arranging this assembly.
Parents learned how important nutrition is to the overall health of their children and family. They learned tips on how to limit sugar consumption, how to help picky eaters become more adventurous and saw a visual presentation of 5lbs of fat versus 5lbs of muscle.

The interactive assembly included skits, music and magic tricks to help educate our students on important fire safety and injury prevention skills. Our students learned about the following eight life safety skills:
- Stop, Drop and Roll
- Matches and Lighter Safety
- Seatbelt Safety
- Smoke Alarms
- Fire Escape Planning
- 9-1-1
- Helmet Safety

SJ Sharkie helped read a story to students who are participating in the San Jose Sharks/NHL Reading is Cool program. Even though he does not speak he did a great job of helping read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie".
