Our Cornerstone students will be coordianteing our annual Penny Drive, which runs from December 7th through December 11th.  All proceeds will go directly to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, an organization which helps provie food for the needy families in our community.  Last year, Capri's community raised over $1,000.  It is our goal to do the same this year.

Walking is a fun and healthy way to spend time with your child.

In Campbell Union School District, we encourage parents and students to walk or bike to school every Wednesday. For those who live too far, try parking farther away from the school and walking the last block or two.

students and parents walk to school

Since children learn by doing, YOU are your child’s most important role model for learning to walk safely. As you walk, please:

  • Obey all traffic signs and signals.
  • Look LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT for moving cars, and cross when clear.
  • Time yourself. Practice this weekend to find out how much time to allow.
  • Check the weather and dress appropriately (boots, rain coat, umbrella, etc.).

As you walk, you can talk with your child about what you’re doing and explain why.

A Message from the Superintendent

Parents often ask me: “When will I find out the results of my child’s tests?”

Each year our teachers administer several assessments to determine student growth and inform their classroom teaching practice. These assessments—tests, quizzes, class projects, and the like—provide multiple ways to measure student progress towards learning the important concepts they need for success in school and in the community at-large.

Our assessment cycle includes dates we report results throughout the year. Also, our teachers are available to discuss student progress with the parents.

Assessment Reporting Schedule

iReady Testing Results

  • October at Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Mid-November via student delivery
  • Early March via student delivery

Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Distribution Cycle

  • Tentatively August/September 2016 via U.S. mail

Trimester Report Cards

  • Middle School (sent via U.S. mail): Nov. 19, March 10, June 9
  • Elementary School (sent home with student): Nov. 20, March 18, June 8

Campbell Union School District employees value partnering with you to prepare our students for college and career success. Please continue to communicate with your child’s teacher(s) to stay informed and to ensure that we are all doing our best to provide each student with an optimal educational experience.

Our annual Halloween Parade will take place on Friday, October 30 at 8:15 A.M., weather permitting.  Students will walk parade-style in the front of the school from driveway to driveway.  Please help us ensure a safe parade by:

1.  Having your student arrive at school in costume

2.  Making sure that your child does not bring any weapon-like accessories, avoids blood and gore, and does not wear a mask.

The library will be open for students who do not wish to participate.  Upon completion of the parade, regular classroom instruction will resume.

Starting January 2016, new incoming students or those students transitioning from elementary to middle school will no longer be able to provide a personal belief statement or religious exemption for immunizations.

Under the 2015 Senate Bill 277, there is provision for “grandfathering” students who currently have a statement of belief or religious exemption until they reach their next vaccination checkpoint – kindergarten or 7th grade.  A licensed physician can exempt students from immunizations.

For more information about immunization requirements, contact the California Department of Public Health (916) 558-1784 or ask your health care provider.

Kudos to our PTA and our Walk-a-Thon Committee, PTA President Lauren Gourley, Darcy Nugent, Renee Small, Kim Masson,  Eliza Lin and Katie Mendelson.  We had a fabulous day, where students walked hundreds of miles, snacked on healthy treats, and enjoyed the company of their classmates.
