Mrs. Wellendorf presented to a large group of prospective parents on Wednesday morning.  She discussed learning targets, common core standards, assessments, enrichment programs and ways to get involved at Capri. Parents were treated to a tour of our campus, including the kindergarten classrooms.   After the tour, three 5th grade students took over and talked about some of their favorite memories, projects and experiences at Capri.

We will be having one more tour (TK focus) on January 29th at 8:30 am.

Capri's School Site Council met on Tuesday, January 21st.  One of their agenda items was to discuss and categorize the results from the district-wide ThoughtExchange.  The council reviewed all of the results from both parents and students. These results will be used when making budget decisions for the 2020-2021 school year.

First, we want to thank you for participating in the recent thoughtexchange for our school. Through that online forum, we were able to receive direct interactions and input from many of our parent stakeholders about what is working well and what we can focus on to improve.

Thoughtexchange’s system allows us to see all of the thoughts that were shared and those that received the greatest number of high ratings. We examine that feedback and incorporate it into the rest of the data we have as we develop our school’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), which is closely tied to our school funding and budgeting.

Between now and June 1st, 2020, our staff, Instructional Leadership Team and school committees (PTA, SSC, etc.) will be reviewing the results as part of developing our LCAP for 2020-2021. That process will include consideration of changes to be made to student instruction, ways to maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment, and allocating funds and resources to support the decisions.

If you have questions about our annual thoughtexchange or about how we use the results in our LCAP, please contact our school secretary, Christi Cota, to set up an appointment or phone call.

Although it still seems like we are only part way through the 2019-2020 school year, it is time for us to begin to plan for the 2020-2021 school year. If your child is attending Capri at this time and is in Kindergarten to 4thgrade, they will automatically be enrolled at our school for the 2020-2021 school year. However, if your child is in our Transitional Kindergarten class and your family does not live within the Capri boundaries, you will need to participate in Open Enrollment to enroll them for a spot in Kindergarten at Capri for the 2020-2021 school year. If you do not participate in this process, your child will return to their home school, if you live in the Campbell Union School District, or you will need to enroll them in the district in which you reside.

Also, if your child is in 5th grade this year and your family lives within the Capri boundaries, s/he will automatically be enrolled in 6thgrade at Rolling Hills for the 2020-2021 school year. If you are not a neighborhood resident or if you want your child to attend Monroe Middle School or the Campbell School of Innovation for 6th grade, you must participate in Open Enrollment.

Open Enrollment starts at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21st and ends at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14th.  Parents must apply during this time.  If families are new to the district, a registration packet must be completed, and all required documents must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on February 14th for the Open Enrollment application to be valid.  Parents may make one choice to enroll their child in a school other than their boundary resident school site for Open Enrollment.  If a parent completes more than one application, all applications are null and void and the student will be placed at their resident school site.

For currently enrolled TK students.  If you are not Capri residents, you will need to participate in Open Enrollment to have your child remain at our school for Kindergarten. Residents of Capri do not need to do anything.  Your child will automatically be enrolled at our school for Kindergarten.

For currently enrolled 5th graders, Capri resident students residing within the Rolling Hills boundary will automatically be placed at Rolling Hills. Students living within the district but outside the RHMS boundary will automatically be placed at their neighborhood school. Students living outside the district or preferred school boundary will need to participate in Open Enrollment and go through the lottery and priorities for placement, if space is available.

Campbell School of Innovation (CSI) enrollment at any grade level requires participating in Open Enrollment.

School tours of Capri will be conducted at 8:30AM on Wednesday, January 22nd for Kindergarten and 8:30 am on Wednesday, January 29th for Transitional Kindergarten.  Prospective parents may visit on those days to hear a presentation about our school and take a tour of the site. RSVP is NOT required. For more information regarding tours, please call

(408) 364-4260

If you have any questions about Open Enrollment, please call the Campbell Union School District office at (408) 364-4200 to obtain information and clarification. Registration will be online for elementary or middle school.  Our school finder link will help you see which is your attendance area school.
