It’s SUMMER TIME! I truly hope that summer vacation goes well for you. Thank you for another wonderful and productive school year. I could not be prouder.

I would like to wish a fond farewell to our 5th grade class. They are an amazing group of young women and men, and on behalf of the staff here at Capri, I wish you good luck. For our returning students and new incoming TK and kindergarten students, I look forward to seeing you all back at the end of summer break.

While you and the family are enjoying the much-needed quality time, continue to read and grow over the summer and, even though it may be a bit hot, make time to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Thank you, parents, for allowing us the opportunity to educate and support your wonderful children.   A special thanks to our PTA who, as usual, went above and beyond the call of duty to provide whatever was necessary to add to our students’ already rich school experience.

That experience could not occur without the endless energy, skills, and devotion of the Capri staff.  Thank you, and well done to an incredible group of professionals.

We wish you safe travels and an abundance of joy, laughter, and learning this summer with your family.

Thank You!

Eric Brown, Principal

On June 2nd the entire school came together to celebrate the 25 years (22 at Capri) that Mrs. Eshoff has dedicated to the Campbell Union School District. Each grade took a moment to share a song, or a story or a poem for her.  The best part was the surprised look on her face when she realized the entire school wanted to show her how much she means to us all.

Have a wonderful retirement Mrs. Eshoff! Your granddaughters are so lucky to get all your attention next year!

Los Dichos is an educational program supported by parents with the purpose of promoting Latin American literature to our students. Two of our amazing volunteers visited Ms. Scillingo's classroom to share the book of the month, discuss the theme, and run an activity with the students to reinforce the lesson.

If you are interested in volunteering for the wonderful program please contact Astrid Sanz at asanz [at] campbellusd.org

All of us at Capri are so proud of Gloria McGriff for being selected as Campbell Union School District's Teacher of the Year.

Gloria McGriff epitomizes what a Teacher of the Year does on a daily basis. She is very passionate about her craft and is always seeking new ways to excite and inspire her Fifth Grade students. She is THE STEAM QUEEN! Gloria not only focuses on rigorous academics but also raises students' self-awareness through Leadership roles and responsibilities.

Gloria gives so much of her time for the betterment of our Capri community, representing staff at Faculty Senate, piloting curriculum as an NGSS Science Innovator, and helping to secure grant funding for a multitude of school resources.  Gloria was the catalyst behind our site getting the STEAM grant, and she is in charge of student leadership which every single student at Capri gets to benefit from. She is such a positive role model for students and staff alike. Gloria is simply one of those teachers whose students, their families, and staff will remember fondly for years to come.

Gloria will move on and be considered for the Santa Clara County Teacher of the year in the fall.

Capri recognized two outstanding employees and one volunteer as our employees of the year.

Capri’s Classified employee of the year is Carla Palacios.  Carla has been an integral part of Capri for several years.  She works with multiple grade levels as an ELA/ELD and math support Instructional assistant as well as yard duty, and translator. Carl has cultivated a positive and trusting relationship with Capri students which is evident by the way they respond to her. Students love her because of her upbeat personality. She takes the initiative to find some of her own materials to use with her small groups,  our teachers who get the opportunity to work with her love having her in their classroom.

Capri’s Volunteer of the Year is Sara Auckland. Sara is our go-to parent helper for our weekly Covid testing event, all of our hearing and vision health screenings, and picture days, and she even went shopping for us for home Covid tests when there was such a shortage.  Sara is a very kind person and cares sincerely about every child at Capri and is a strong advocate for their needs.  She likes to get to know each student in the school personally and knows quite a few of their names.

Capri's Teacher of the Year is Gloria McGriff. Gloria McGriff epitomizes what a Teacher of the Year does on a daily basis. She is very passionate about her craft and is always seeking new ways to excite and inspire her Fifth Grade students. She is THE STEAM QUEEN!

Her classroom community is built upon a foundation of core principles: respect, kindness, courage, and responsibility. Gloria has created a fifth grade community for all students and teachers by getting everyone involved in activities that benefit the Capri community. Her enthusiasm is contagious! Gloria is an amazing colleague. She is the type of person who is genuine and really listens to everyone's points of view, both professionally and personally.  She is always eager to offer help, encouragement, or a kind compliment.
