To best meet the needs of each individual kindergarten student at Capri, our talented kindergarten staff will be working with each one of your children for the first three days of school. Every child will have an opportunity to work with and get to know each teacher as they participate in multiple activities throughout these three days. Each teacher will interact with our entire kindergarten class to better learn about each student, the environment in which they thrive, and the best composition for their learning needs. In order to ensure a smooth start and end to the school day for your child, each kindergarten student will begin and end their day in the same classroom with the same teacher. The temporary class placement will be posted in the office window on Tuesday, August 21st by 5 pmwith your child’s CUSD ID number and not by name.

While your child(ren) will have a temporary class placement for attendance and verification purposes for the first three days of school, official classroom assignments will be posted in the office window on Friday, August 24th by 5 pmwith your child’s CUSD ID number and not by name. There will also be staff members in the kindergarten area on August 27th with master lists of student assignments to help you get your student's official placement

The 2018-19 Back-to-School Information "Packet" is online this year.

This week, we are emailing parents/guardians with information about the digital Back-to-School “packet” that will help make for a smooth and safe start of the year for their students.

FIRST, THE OFFICIAL FORMS...

Using the email address provided by parents/guardians, we are sending a message with link(s) by which they may:

  1. Confirm/Update the Emergency Contact information for their students. (Emergency Contact information is required to receive middle school class schedule!)
  2. Review legally required notices, parental consent forms, and information about that first day of school.
  3. Generate a confirmation email that shows completion of steps 1 and 2 above. IMPORTANT! Middle School students will need to bring a copy of the confirmation email with them to receive their class schedule!

If you did not receive an email, or if you cannot access the online forms, please contact the school office.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION...

Each school's website will have back-to-school information specific to that school posted on its Family Involvement page, found under the Resources tab at the top of the home page.

Need More?
If you have a question or would like to request a hard copy of the back-to-school packet, please contact the school office, or email contact [at] campbellusd.org.

District students compete in international coding event.

Karen, who hopes to work for NASA one day, joined dozens of middle school students who took part in the Zero Robotics International Space Station (ISS) Finals with the astronauts last Friday, August 10th. Campbell Union School District middle schoolers competed in the Zero Robotics summer program and wrote code for moving mini satellites in zero gravity.

Zero Robotics Middle School Summer Program introduces students to computer programming, robotics, and space engineering, and provides hands-on experience with programming SPHERE (Synchronized, Position, Hold, Engage, Reorient, Experimental Satellites). At the culminating event, 12 regional teams from around the globe watched live as astronauts aboard the International Space Station judged their team’s code in zero gravity.

This is the second year that Campbell Union School District summer program students have participated in Zero Robotics, thanks to the grant-funded After School Education Safety (ASES) program operated by our CUSD Extensions Department.

Campbell Union School District students were featured in a National Geographic short film about it, called Zero Gravity.

For more about Zero Robotics, visit their website.
