quiet please

Fall conferences will take place between October 31 and November 4.  Students will be dismissed at 12:05 p.m. (Grades TK – 3) and 12:10 p.m. (Grades 4-5) every day that week.

This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, teachers and students to meet to discuss student progress and learning goals for the year.

We are asking for a quiet campus during conferences.  We are asking that students not be playing on the field or play structure after school.  This will allow our teachers quiet uninterrupted time to meet with parents and students.

Thank you for your support.

At the September 20 Strategic Planning Special Session, Governing Board members and 30 participants representing the district’s stakeholders—from students and parents, to employees and community agencies— met to discuss progress and next steps toward achieving the District’s strategic goals.

In one activity, the group identified perceived strengths in the district since the last Strategic Planning Session. To see the list, click on the e-flyer link on this page. For more about the District's Strategic Plan, go to campbellusd.org/strategicplan.

Thank you to everyone for an absolutely fabulous school Walk-a-Thon on September 30.  The Walk-A-Thon committee and PTA spent many hours planning this exciting and successful event.  Parents provided melon, orange slices, and water to keep our Cougars energized and hydrated.

happy halloween

Our annual Halloween Parade will take place on Monday, October 31 at 8:15 A.M., weather permitting.  Students will walk parade-style in the front of the school from driveway to driveway.  Please help us ensure a safe parade by having your student arrive at school in costume, and that s/he does not bring any weapon-like accessories, avoids blood and gore, and does not wear a mask.  The library will be open for students who do not wish to participate.  Upon completion of the parade, regular classroom instruction will resume.

District Reorganization Update

Administrators for Campbell Middle School provided a status report to the Board in relation to their work at the school since June.

During the summer, they oversaw:

  1. Facility clean up and minor campus improvements, including tree replacement, outside seating for students, and removal of lockers that were inadequate for campus needs.
  2. Hiring faculty, creating team-building opportunities for the school employees, re-initiating the Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) system, and establishing the new Instructional Leadership Team (ILT).
  3. Reviewing and adjusting systems, such as creating a common lunch period, a singly daily bell schedule, and increasing instructional minutes.
  4. Building the Transformation Team—which will include students, staff, neighbors, administrators and other community stakeholders—to meet and develop a plan for the school’s transition from middle school to a grade TK-8 school.

Strategic Plan Update

Superintendent Eric Andrew reported that work on the five objectives aimed at achieving the district’s Strategic Goals is going well.

He noted that work on the goals has progressed well with many of the objectives met. He added that some of the deadlines needed to be extended to October and November, due to changes in administration staff and union leadership and to allow the Strategic Planning Committee to consider revising the “Schools’ of Choice” goal’s wording.
