Hello, Capri Cougar families!
This is Ms. Eliza, Ms. Lin, and Mrs. Lin. I’ve had the privilege of working as an instructional aide at Capri, and this marks my 7th year. I happily respond to any of these names and know when I hear cougars say my name, they need a little support with work in the classroom, advice on problems at the playground, or even simply need someone to have a chat with. My official name is Wanyu Lin, and I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan (the origin of Bubble Tea and good XLB dumplings). My parents were avid moviegoers and, as a toddler, I spent weekends watching English movies I had no clue about, until one movie starring Audrey Hepburn cast a spell on me, My Fair Lady. (You’re probably guessing my age now.) The phonetics professor, Henry Higgins, dazzlingly showed me the world of linguistics, and from that point on, I pursued a lifelong passion for words, sounds, and how languages powerfully shape our lives. Without hesitation, I gave myself the English name Eliza. From National Taiwan Normal University, I obtained a BA in English and an MA in Second Language Acquisition. For six years, I worked as a high school teacher and eventually felt the urge for a change in life. There were some twists and turns, and here I am, living in Campbell with my husband as well as teenage son and daughter. I have a plethora of hobbies: playing the piano, hiking on easy trails, visiting a state or national parks, reading legal thrillers, binge watching Korean or Japanese dramas, and my favorite is listening to Capri cougars talk. Next time you see me on campus or at a local grocery store, let's have a chat!
